Opening Title....in 3D!

While editing of the film is under way, we have built what will probably be the opening title sequence for the movie. It was built with a combination of After Effects, Maya, Photoshop and Premier. So for your viewing pleasure:

Editing....

We finished (well 99.9%) principle filming a couple of weeks ago and since then editing the footage has begun. One more shot needs to be done and then a several visual effects need to be completed but otherwise everything we need to complete the actual movie is done. For the movie we're using a combination of Maya (a 3D modeling program), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premier. As of right now we won't be posting any of the film until our set deadline as we don't want to give away any of the major plot details. So right now you'll just have to wait and see....

Roll the video tape.....

As of this posting we only have one scene filmed, however it is the scene that includes using a green screen. It's a montage of three shorter clips and there's no dialogue, however we think it turned out quite well. We did discover that the projectors in the classroom aren't as bright so the video is kinda hard to watch as it is in black and white and therefore quite dark so that may be something we need to address with the finished product.

Green Screen

Another piece we've created is our "production company" logo and animated it. We created two options but we haven't decided which one will be used in the final movie.

Getting started.....

So we're already seven weeks into the semester, but we've only really started to make real progress in our production. The first two weeks were coming up with a concept and developing the script. Since then we've filmed one scene and everything else has been developing other parts of the project including motion graphics, sound and some 2D animation. We're not going to post the entire script yet because the ending would be given away and then that would ruin all the fun wouldn't it? But just for fun here's a small snippet:

EUNICE takes a handkerchief out of her purse and dabs her eyes. She speaks….

EUNICE
I really need your help Phinder. You see it’s my mother. I haven’t heard from her in three weeks. She won’t return my calls; I’ve sent letters, nothing! We’re usually so close and I can’t understand why she suddenly won’t talk to me! I need to find out what’s wrong. Please say you can help me.

MARSHAL
I see you’re in quite the pickle miss.
(He pauses and looks at the mess on his desk)
Okay, I’ll help ya. Give me all the information you can about your mom and I’ll see what I can find out.

EUNICE jumps out of the chair and hugs MARSHAL. We see her shaking his hand as we FADE OUT.

What the heck is this?

Welcome to our blog! This blog will help chronicle the time and work going into our short film "What's Wrong With Mama?" for Foundations of Digital Production class. You'll see as we go from script to finished product in approximately 16 weeks. It's a lot of work but we're really excited to see the finished product in May.

So stay tuned!
